1854 British penny good or VG?

6 berichten
I think I made a mistake on this one. I spent $10.00 for it. I was hoping it was at least vg. I think I am just going to go for vf from now on for the old british coppers. What is it worth? about 4 or 5 dollars?

I'm treating this as an opportunity to practice grading, so please take this with a huge grain of salt, but I'd say VG for the obverse (considerable wear, high spots worn down) and G for the reverse (some of the legend is completely worn off).

Half the legend is gone, VG needs all the elements of the coin to be visible so it would have to be G

Yes, I am doing the same. Trying to improve my grading, especially of world coins.

Detail is too worn for a VG to me. Direct currency change to GBP is a little steep, for that amount you should get at least a F grade as the 53 and 54 are very common.
