Hello,

I believe this is an "evasion" token, a kind of counterfeit halfpenny (or farthing?). The reverse should read "BATER SEA".

Here is another one, somewhat different, but with the same reverse type and legend.

The evasion tokens start here in the Numista catalogue.

I have the catalogue for these Darryl. Gimme a shout if you need any more identified. I am going to warn you now they're very addictive and although they're not widely collected they are quite pricey and even in low grades (even though they were minted to be a low grade anyway)

Here's another link for your Daryl, this time to the Atkins references for a couple of different year types.

If you can let us have a couple of whole pictures of yours (without edges cut off) then perhaps we should create a catalogue page for it?
Just because you can't see it ... doesn't mean it isn't there - Anon.

I think Phil sent it by mistake, Will be sending it back to him. It is very interesting. And can see how they would be very collectable.
edit oh were are my manners, thanks a lot for the help. These are very interesting

I agree for both 'addictive' and 'pricely' :D

I amassed a collection of around 80 or more but decided they were too much of a distraction and decided to sell up. One Canadian man bought nearly the whole lot.
Yes I can see how they would become very addictive. Just the little I have read on them. But I am sure Phil had no ideal it was in the lot for my dead coins. He very nicely sent me. And I don't know if he has any for his UK collection, so it is his. But I do not buy from E-bay so I don't think I will find any. Thing like this makes me want to buy from E-Bay. But very prided my collection only comes from swaps and other collectors. I am not sure if there are many of us yet. Non E-bayer or any site like them.
It is, what it is, or is it.
There are other sites that sell them, some pricely, other cheap
In europe:
Marktplaats.nl
Delcampe.be
perhaps Catawiki
....

And this site is reasonable:

Thank you PetrusAscanus your information is always great. But I have not brought any coins off any internet site. And thinking of keeping it that way. I do it the old way. Though face to face or swaps. And coin shops. The nearest coin shop to me is two towns up from me. It is slow but iam a dinosaur. Iam not sure if there are any more like me left.
