Token, Plus Ultra - Ludwig Christian Lauer, Nuremberg

6 berichten
Hello, in the first weeks of this year I went to an antiques event here in Chile, and I bought a "coin", after some research I discovered that it was a token, the one that I put in the title, the question is: why my token is different than all the ones that are shown in this page, maybe you can help me.
It has the PLUS ULTRA and the ship in one side, but in the other side the moon with the sun aren't surrounded by the letters (Lettering: L.CHR.LAUER*REICH-PFEN*), the entire side of my token is the moon and the sun. The token still has the same diameter (15mm), weight and material.

If you google Nuremberg Token Lauer, you will find more info

In Nuremberg were a lot of token makers starting from about 1600.
Before 1600 tokens were made in France

Thanks, but i still have a question, here the most similar token has a 90 in the rarity scale, but i still can't find my exact token in google, does it mean that it is much more rare?
thanks again for your reply! :)
Many of the makers have made a lot of similar jetons. They are not rare even with the 90 rarity scale.
There are catalogs about Nuremberg jetons and tokens. But I have none of them...

I've not seen any with no comment on the face.
Might be a copy  ?

A lot of Nuremberg jetons are copies of existing coins. It is no wonder that these copies were copied....
