Hi All,
I believe I may have come across a 1921 P Mercury dime. I want to be 100% certain as this is a key date and low mintage and even in its current condition has nice value (if in fact its a 1921). By looking at it with a naked eye you clearly can see the "192?" and the "1" seems like its actually a "1" but I am not certain. It is very hard to get a good picture as the lighting really hides what the naked eye sees. I am attaching multiple images of different angles. I am hoping some of you can chime in with you thoughts.
In addition on the reverse there is a nick on the left side by the UNITED. I was wondering what the effect on the value that would have if in fact this is a 1921 P. (see circled area)
Your coin appears to be a 1921 (see example below); however, in that condition (AG-3 details cleaned and damaged), I would guess it's worth less than $10.
Thanks Steve,
Considering I paid about $1.10 about a year ago for it I'm quite happy if it's worth about 10x that. However given the mintage wouldn't you think it's worth at least $15? A 1921p in G condition is worth about $40. So in AG condition I would think at least 15 considering the damage as well?

Citeer: "PetrusAscanus"1.1$ is a realistic value for that coin, even with low mintage.
The values you see in the catalog are 'catalog' values, not real selling-buying value
Cant you say that about every coin? Is an 1878 CC Trade Dollar (pretty rare) only worth about spot in AG condition? I would think that since 1921 P is the 3rd lowest mintage of the coin series and is considered a key date it would have more than spot value of the silver?
Here in Belgium (Europe) you will not find a buyer that will agree with your values. The collectors here will pay a large amount only if the coin is in very very nice condition. The only collectors here who would be intrested in such a coin are the young, just starting collectors)
You should know the you never will get rich is buying/selling coins....
If I should value all my collection with the catalog values, I would be millionair

My estimate was based on actual ebay sales of similar condition 1921 Mercury dimes.
