When checking through my list of 'coins by metal' I realised that I have 2174 coins, listed as 'other'.
What exactly does this mean? I guess some of it is to do with the bi-metallic issues that are more common these days, but a more expansive answer would be welcome.
If the metal is written any other way than Numista recognises in the coin sheet be it in English or French it will be put into the other category. There are a few threads about it on the forum already.
For example most if not all of the materials in this list would put the coins in 'other' at the moment.
Idolenz,
You say 'at the moment'. Do you think that one day the list will be without the 'other coins' listing?
By next week would be fine by me.
Geoff
One can dream
But if some kind of tag system is implemented that allows more metal info but also groupings in specific metal categories other will probably still exist for the oddballs like clay, wood etc. or rarely used metals like lead.
Clay, wood and lead, I will put up with as I not think I have any of those.
It is just the number of un-allocated metals by type.
Never mind, one day it will begin to shrink, quicker than I make it grow, I hope.
I tried to crack down on wrongly typed metals. So it is better now than it was months ago. Still, statistics on that page are limited to 10 metals and all "others" and these are user generated. That means if you had 1000 silver coins, Silver would be shown. Also, if you had many Tin coins, Tin would jump out of "Others" and something else will take it's place.
Most Bimetallic will fall into others because they have many differencies. Different ring, center, several metals etc..
Wow, you have 1,275 gold coins. You must be the richest person on Numista. I have a fair few, but that is insignificant in comparison to your collection
That's a shame. I would have liked to see some of them, but now I will state into space and see your total gold coin collection. A vacuum would have more then?
