Hi,
I am unable to move forward after determining these are from the Kushan kingdom. I tried comparing with online catalogues but couldn't find these. Would appreciate if someone also has any tips in how to identify. I am an absolute newbie.

Thanks and Regards,
Anand
Unfortunately, both coins have been completely tooled. It is not possible to know what they were originally. That being said, they are now intended to resemble coins of Kanishka with Oesho (Siva) on the reverse.
Thanks for the reply. Just read about tooling. What signs would you look out for ...intentional tooling?
This is not an easy question. Poorly-tooled coins are (or should be) obvious. Expertly tooled coins can be virtually undetectable. The tools used will leave evidence of their use on the coin. A tooled surface is different from a natural surface. This evidence is often camouflaged by artificial patina. Perhaps the best defense against tooling is to develop an eye for how original coins should look.
I think I should look at this with a magifying glass. I could not match the symbol of king with catalogs. Even with years of degradations..it should look like degradations of those symbols. This could mean the forgers were not real pros..and just made a three pointed star. I have flea markets jn my city were all these old coins sell by their sizes...small medium and big..so the market here is still nascent
Notice how on your coin the design is simply an outline carved into an otherwise flat surface. Compare these Kushan coins https://www.zeno.ru/showgallery.php?cat=1103 where the image is usually is high relief above the field.

By the way, even at major coin shows in the United States, one finds boxes of loose Kushan coins, usually common types and low to mid grades, for a few dollars each. However, fine quality pieces and rare types (such as those depicting the Buddha) can be expensive.
Yes, I now see it. Thanks for the tip. Will keep this in mind next time I am looking.
Those tooled coins are so bad that it reminds me of this fiasco. What were they thinking? Totally damaged those coins:

Once you know about tooling, yes they are pretty obvious. But I am sure with noobs like me in the thousands they do have a big market
Ah, but the age old advice comes to mine. Buy what you know and not what you don't know! If you knew how Kushan coins looked like, its obvious that it is either fake or heavily been tampered with.
