It's actually Gordian III, RCV 8739. The most obvious difference is the portrait. Gordian I was an older man who ruled for only one month at the age of 79. The title "Africanus" (abbreviated AFR) is found on the coins of Gordian I and Gordian II, which are all quite rare . Gordian III was a teenager throughout this reign. His portraits have a younger appearance and lack the title "Africanus". Gordian III's coins are among the most common Roman issues.
