Hi all..I am an avid metal detectorist here in Singapore. I recently came across an India Pice Coin dated 1946 during one of my metal detecting outing. I googled the dated coin online but I cannot find any information about a 1946 India Pice Coin.
Any help to identify this coin would be appreciated.
Citeer: "Frenchlover"You're right, 1 Pice 1946 doesn't exist
And if your token is in bronze by chance, you can see that एकपैसा is too far away from the date.
Thank you for replying.
Correct me if I am wrong..does this mean that this coin should be referred to as a token instead?
What do u mean when u said एक पैसा is too far away from the date? Is it a replica fake of some sort?
What does एक पैसा translate to anyways
It means 1pasia.
Strange on numista also 1946 is not there, but I guess this coin is not fake as India got independence in 1947,so this date should exist, I have got 2coins dated 1945 & 1947.
If you imitate a currency that exists then you are liable to forgery, an offence under the Criminal Code.
If you imitate a currency that does not exist, you just make a token
I've found quite a number of pre war colonial coins on this tiny island of Singapore & Malaysia over the years. All of which can be easily identify. This piece here remains a mystery.
My next move will be to bring it down to a local numismatic expert & hear what they have to say about this.
Citeer: "@josephjk"Compare the Crown on the coin to a genuine mint issue from 1945 and it's easy to tell .... there was no 1946 issue for the holed pice
And this the reverse.....
I found other identifiable coins but most are totally wrecked in the same area in the water which is why I thought this 1946 could be something else. Your explanation makes sense though. Thanks a lot!
