Crowned porta, stars at sides, date below; double circle with perls around the porta.
Lettering: "DVX * ET * GVB * REIP * GEN"
the date is a bit scratched, but looks like "1494" (first two digits are almost unreadable)
Reverse:
Cross with stars in each angle.
Lettering: "+CONRADVS * II * RO * REX * I * V *"
Weight is about 34 g; diameter is about 40mm.
Material is very dark; maybe it could be silver. According to me, it could look like a "Scudo" issued by Genua (italy), like the one represented at: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces21453.html
Unfortunately, the date seems not to agree with the period (but maybe I'm wrong!).
Welcome to the forum.
Probably the date on your coin is 1594 .
There is similar listed halfway down this page ... http://www.rhinocoins.com/ITALY/GENOVA/SCUDI.HTML
1/2 SCUDO
II TYPE
19 GRAMS SILVER 30-36mm
Issued 1594 to 1636
So not the size or weight (34 grams 40mm) of your coin, but date fits.
The 4 at end of your coin does not look like the supposed second number, so must be a 5 there.

Your link is for a 1 Scudo, and your coin is a 1/2 Scudo.

Thanks for your reply!
I think you mean this:
Indeed, it looks exactly that one.
But 1/2 scudo is about 18g, while the coin in the subject weights about the double: that's why I thought it was 1 scudo. Is it possible such a difference in weight?
On the page just above the 1/2 Scudo is a 1 Scudo which is
similar in size and weight, but not exact. Using it more for date -
1494 too early and 1694 too late. Though again those 1 Scudo shown
have a symbol below the first image, not the date.
So far I think it is a 1 Scudo 1594 Genoa.

I agree with your considerations and conclusion.
Do you think it could be a good idea to update the page: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces21453.html
to include that date? Or I'd better ask for a new coin in the catalog? Just because I'd like to keep track of it...

But if its a counterfeit I think it must be an old one as I can't find any other.
some older contemporary counterfeits can be quite sought after.

As far as I know, it was found by a farmer while working in a field in the early 40s; he never spent it. But anything could be...
About the material, I'm not an expert, but the color looks silver: it's very grey and dark (the pictures I uploaded earlier were a bit enhanced and look brownish).
It could be silver, that is difficult for us to judge.
What I would recommend you is to contact an Italian Numismatic Forum. It's probably better to tell your story there in English, I don't trust the Online translators much.
