Where's the date on this Brazilian coin?

I got this little lot and in the bottom left hand corner there is a Brazilian coin without a date? It's 1901, but why didn't they put a date?

Also this is a lot of zinc, if anyone wants some zinc, let me know. In fact, I'll probably only keep one of the Belgian Congo coins out of this lot.

The date is there, above the country name, in roman numerals: MCMI.
