Circulating tokens of Slovak village Široké

6 berichten
I managed to get 1 piece of each base-metal denomination of circulating tokens from Široké. It is a village in eastern Slovakia (about 40 km from High Tatras mountains), whose mayor wanted to make a coinage circulating only in the village itself.

Sokol, as it is named, was firstly issued in 2010. In 2014 there was another issue because there were no coins serving its initial purpose.

In 2015, an issue of 1, 2, 5 and 100 sokol occurred because of the 695th anniversary of the date, when village was first mentioned.

I am selling the first three: 1, 2 and 5 sokol.

1 sokol
Diameter 27 mm
Thickness 2 mm
Weight 7.8 g
Metal: Copper-zinc (80% Cu, 20% Zn)

2 sokol
Diameter 30 mm
Thickness 2.3 mm
Weight 12.7 g
Metal: Pure copper

5 sokol
Diameter 34 mm
Thickness 2.3 mm
Weight 15.7 g
Metal: Copper-zinc (80% Cu, 20% Zn)

Mintage of each coin is 1,350.
Price is 15€+postage.
All coins were minted in Kremnica Mint.

They will be added to Numista as well. With full description.

Pretty unpatient people, there in Široké. Why didn't they wait for 5 more years?
It was an idea of mayor. And at the 700th anniversary he might be not a mayor anymore.
Sold.
One more set available if anyone is interested.
