It is approximately 30 mm and a little over 5.4 grams
I think the first picture should be turned clockwise. Sorry about that.
I think I can see a little more on the coin than you can see in these images. I think I can read (illegible)BIORUM, (illegible)X, and PORTU(illegible) on the side without the crown.
I can try to take additional pictures later.
The surface is a little uneven like it may have been counter-stamped, but it is too worn to say what (if anything) was stamped there.
Yes - so size is for a 10 Réis and the first image when rotated with PORT etc
lettering in correct place the rest matches - that coin and this ... https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces27688.html Azores like you said
PORTUGALLÆ ET ALG ARBORIUM REGINA
It is indeed a 10 Reis/Azores/Luiz I.
In this condition it has no commercial value.
You can acquire one in VG condition with 6€ or, if XF, with 38€.
See the enclosed site where I use to buy coins for my swaps: https://www.portugalmoedas.com.pt/artigo.aspx?id=18250
Thank you all for your assistance! I have a Azores coins both from an earlier and a subsequent ruler, but this is my first one from Luiz 1.
I realize that coins like this one have no commercial value, but my collection has little resale value anyways. I enjoy playing with coins like this one, trying to figure out if there's enough information to get an identification, and knowing it was part of history. I also like that I can hold such coins and not feel guilty that I'm damaging it.
Citeer: "Frenchlover"I'm looking for an ancient coin of Madeira but I'm not confortable with this selling site.
Is there any coin from Madeira ?
The mentioned site has not pages for Azores and Madeira. I do not know why, since they have those coins.
They are included in the King's page, at the bottom.
Go to "Moedas da Monarquia" > "4ª Dinastia" > "1834-1910" > "Select a King" and search at the bottom of the page.
They do the same for the the old Portuguese colonies with dates before 1910.
1910 is the beginning of the Portuguese Republic
