Spring/Autumn goals

We've had threads in the past for yearly goals but they sort of get forgotten about so maybe a quarterly goal thread will be better.

Does anyone want to put their goals for the spring/autumn (depending on your hemisphere) season, i.e the three months from September to the end of November. If so, post them here and then come back and post any updates, this will hopefully keep us motivated in our collecting. I'll list mine and include in brackets what they currently are

My goals are:
  1. increase my collection to 700 coins (669)
  2. Get all 29 non silver coins from 1929-1945 Vatican City (10)
  3. Increase my Straits Settlements collection to at least 20 coins (7)
  4. Buy 1 coin worth more than $100 (0)
Complete set French 5 Centimes from 1898-1938 apart from the real rarities (12 remaining)
Sell at least 100 coins (48 remaining)
Buy one coin from France that is one of the top specimens in the world! (1)
I'll try to think of my goals... if I was making this list yesterday, "300 countries" would've been top, but of course that's impossible now - and I'm not sure what else.

I guess I should just look up my old 2017 goals and check if any are still applicable (minimized realistically).

EDIT:
Here are my 2017 goals...
.
Citeer: "January First-of-May"I haven't yet established them much, but very vaguely...

- Finish the darn Romanian base-metal type set (excluding single-year commemoratives) - currently at 38/80 or thereabouts
- Mongolian, same - apparently 14/32
- Soviet, same (not sure of the number, but I think I'm only missing 2-3 coins by now)
- Get at least one coin from each year 1800-2018 (yes, 2018, this is not a typo) - last time I checked I had 170/219, probably more now
- Get to 250 (preferably more) countries on Numista before the reorganization (after it the target numbers will mostly lose their meaning) - currently [s]233[/s] 238
-- If the reorganization is sufficiently delayed, get to 300 countries - but I probably wouldn't make it
- Get coins from Greenland, Western Sahara and Qatar, to complete the darn Numista map (minus a bunch of islands and dots)
- If money and persistence allow, get a coin from Liechtenstein, for the same reason (but those things are mostly too rare and expensive)
- If my wage/budget gets up from the silly $140/month it currently is, get at least one gold coin
- Get a few more 16th century dated coins (both AD and otherwise) - currently 10 (and it was 8 two days ago)
- Get at least one coin from each century, from 5th BC to 21st AD (6th and 7th century BC coins are too rare... maybe 5th too, might revise this part) - pending some attributions, currently 18/26, missing 5th, 4th, and 1st centuries BC and 7th, 8th, 10th, 11th and 14th centuries AD, but I probably already have coins from a few of those

Probably a few more that I didn't remember.
[EDIT: fixed some minor details]

Current progress:
Romanian set - 42ish, not actually much progress
Mongolian set - Numista says 16
Soviet set - 35/54, or around that, but many of the "missing" types are just so cheap I hadn't bothered entering them
Year count - don't think I'm still missing any post-1850 year, but I hadn't really checked on the earlier dates
Country count - final figure is 293... well over 250, and just short of 300
Specific countries - still missing Greenland (too expensive), did get Western Sahara, Qatar, and Liechtenstein
Gold - nope, but the budget actually went down
Dated coins from 16th century - no idea, but I did get a few this year
One from each century - effectively done, though some dates are uncertain

...nope, not really sure what to use for November.
1. Complete Canada Large Cents. 1858 should be here next week. Just 1900 to go.

2. Add 1 Barber I don't have. I think 9 to go.

3. As always, add a new country. Senegal is most likely.
1. Fill in the missing years in my AD-dated coin run from 2017 back to 1504 (and maybe earlier).
2. Add some more countries
3. Add some more German States, especially ones with German-sounding names

1. Do you have a 2018 coin yet? I do
2. Well, duh, though for me it's probably going to be a part of point 3
3. Haha :-) is this about the non-German-sounding names of Schweidnitz and Barby?

A run back to 1504 (or at least to 1517) is in my long-term plans. In a shorter term I'm trying for a run from 2018 back to 1800.
Last time I checked (March 19, 2017), I was missing (2017 and) 1909, 1891, 1877, 1869, 1859, 1851-0, 1847-4, 1838, 1836, 1833, 1831, 1829, 1827-5, 1823, 1821, 1817, 1815, 1813, 1811-0, 1808, 1803-2, and numerous pre-1800 dates.
By now I definitely already have (2017 and)1909, 1891, 1877, 1869, 1859 and 1851 (so 1850 appears to be the most recent missing year); probably others I forgot (will have to re-check again some time).

1. No 2018 yet -- I'll wait until later in 2017, when there's a better selection available

3.More like:
- - - Brunswick(Braunschweig)-Grubenhagen-Salzderhelden
- - - Fugger-Babenhausen-Wellenburg
-- - - Hatzfeld-Wildenburg-Krottendorf
- - - Hohenlohe-Neuenstein-Oehringen
- - - Mansfeld-Eigentliche-Hintertort
- - - Pfalz-Birkenfeld-Zweibrucken
--- Sachsen-Ernestinische Linie

Countries I've added this year:
British North Borneo,Serbia,Rhodesia and Nyasaland,Uzbekistan,Georgia,Greenland,Danzig,Andorra,Cabo Verde,Hawaii,Marshall Islands,Sarawak,Tristan da Cunha,St. Helena,Ruanda-Urundi,Bohemia-Moravia,Qatar and Dubai,Montenegro,India - Kutch,South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands,New Hebrides,Namibia

- I'd like to add at least one of: Korea (late 1800s-early 1900s), Puerto Rico (1895-96), and German New Guinea (1894)
- It's been a few months since I last picked up coin rolls from the bank. There must be at least 2-3 new quarters out by now, so it's about time to grab some and see what I can find. I stopped roll-hunting when Wells Fargo got rid of their coin counting machines earlier this year. Well, TCF still has them and they recently sent me an offer that's just too good to refuse! - $250 to open a checking account with them, so guess what... now I'm a TCF client.
- Still hunting for a RSFSR 1921-22 rouble
- Would like to get at least 1 of Japan's early decimal coins from 1870-71
- Hopefully, not spend more than $100 on any one coin - now, this is going to be a challenge considering my other goals, if I want something in XF or better!
HoH
In my Autumn season, in the North Pole, whether Bangladesh or in Canada, I must complete the following...
Increase my countries to 100 (now 65).
Complete collecting from countries like Belgium, Serbia, Bulgaria (of course), the Netherlands, Finland, Kingdom of France, Greece, Monaco and the Ottoman Empire, Montenegro all from the 19th century, all silver and non - silver and oh, United Kingdom too.

Increase European countries to 75 countries, now 23 countries or so.

I have got a confirmation of a whole lot of 30 coins, much expenisve but I must also complete that trade in Autumn, that would include much valuable and more countries and all older from the 19th century, like
Albania
Austrian habsburg and states - Burgau.
Swiss cantons - Sankt Gallen
Suomi 1 penni 1911
suomi 5 pennia 1916
Denmark

German States - Baden
Prussia
Sardinia
Luxembourg
Liechtenstein

Romania
Russian Empire
Serbia - 50 para 1915
Sverige
Turkiye - Osmanisches - Ottoman Empire.

Which means these are countries with royal coins headed by Kings and of course 19th century old and silver.
Will be completing this soon.

Have other lot to buy, so I think I will have even more countries.

All these trades will mean, so much time will need by me and the money still will try to get. :D
Complete Canadian non-silver 25 Cent collection, EF or better. About 5 to go from the 1990's.

I have already got a Liechtenstein coin from a German anhalt friend, for 35 EUR, very lucky for after trying for over 6 months. I think in the late autumn I must have the coin in my hand.
And for YOU. If you want to get a coin from Liechtenstein for cheap price, it is the only LUCK can do.
And about my Serbian coin requests, everyone is silent. Have you seen people such like them?

I actually did get a Liechtenstein coin, and I paid even less for it than you did (about $25 - the especially cheap price was due to a sale at the coin shop, but even without the sale it would've been only about $40).
And yes, I guess that was quite a bit of luck - especially the sale :)

(And, um, what Serbian coin requests? I don't get the point of your last part, unfortunately.)

I did mean to say the I sent PM to many Serbian members for the old Serbian coins, but what I see is they read the message and don't reply.
Update for the first week of September. I picked up a few Vatican coins

  1. Increase my collection to 700 coins (669) 675
  2. Get all 28 non silver coins from 1929-1945 Vatican City (10) 14
  3. Increase my Straits Settlements collection to at least 20 coins (7) 7
  4. Buy 1 coin worth more than $100 (0)0
My goals are to work on Nickel collection, buy 2 nickel coin albums and buy the America the Beautiful map holder and work on my ATB collection.
never kill a mockingbird: it's bad luck.

Congrats!! I finished mine some time ago and I am now trying to improve the quality to VF or better. Hoping you didn't pay too much for the 1858.

1. 3 grade improvements to my Canadian Cent collection.

2. 5 more Canadian Colonials.

3. Get to 100 of 250 Countries pre-1962 (where applicable).

Looking good on all of these, as Mark's Colonial sale really got the juices flowing again.

My only goal was to reach 300 countries, had over 290. I now have 223. So my new goal is to reach 300 issuers, have 297. I ran out of new countries to get. The real countries I need are too expensive. And the fake ones don't appeal too much to my collecting instincts.
Just hit 300 issuers. The funny thing is that I didn't add a single coin to my collection. Hopefully as they keep revising the catalog my total keeps growing.
No real goals, just metal detect as much as possible and hope for the best :)
I collect and deal in ancient Roman coin. In case you're looking for affordable ancient coins or need any help with the coins you already have send me a message.
