I have been debating this subject for a while in my brain. Personally,I sell from my swaplist, but I have purchased from the Forum. Maybe limiting selling to 1 time monthly per person would work. I don't agree with a total ban. Any thoughts?
When considering something like selling on the forum, it's useful to consider worst case. What is it that we don't want to happen and do we have tools to ensure that doesn't happen? Too many sellers, disreputable sellers? payment conflicts?, etc
My personal view is that having an online marketplace here provides a bit more reassurance than the casual online deal as you are able to look at someone's swap history in detail and talk to them easily. I also like the idea that the coins are exchanged between genuine collectors rather than those simply looking to profit.
Selling coins on the forum are not banned, and are not going to in the future. The things that you are NOT allowed to sell is anything that is non-numismatic. I was asking about selling Bitcoin, and Xavier said only coin sales.
I've bought and sold on the forum, and am against any restrictions. I consider it safer than buying off strangers and prices are usually lower, not to mention this way the money goes to collectors, not dealers.
I collect and deal in ancient Roman coin. In case you're looking for affordable ancient coins or need any help with the coins you already have send me a message.
I agree with cro321.
You are the owner of the coin, so you are rightfully allowed to sell it. If your price is considered too high, it will never sell. This also applies to postal costs.
If you offer the coin at a sensible price you will sell it and, most importantly, get 100% of the money, whereas, auction sites would take 20%.
Therefore, you are able to slightly undercut these auction sites and still come out on top.
Once you get a good name on the site, your selling will do even better.
Just match the price to the grade and you will be fine, I am sure.
Wishing you the best of luck
