Hi,
As referee for a country (Singapore) that insists on making copper-nickel versions of it's silver commems, and of some others (French Indochina) with various essais and piedforts, I think it would be helpful to have a tool where you could create a duplicate of an existing coin page; then you would modify the new page as necessary (replace photos, add 'ESSAI' to lettering, or change the metal it was struck in, etc). This would make referees' lives a lot easier.
Very nice suggestion. Not only for coins made of other metal, or for ESSAIS and piedforts, but also for all series with the same specifications where only the reverse differs.
At the moment for series, I just press the back button on my Chrome browser and it reloads the filled in 'New coin' page for me to edit and add, then repeat. It does tend to stop working with a 'This page cannot be found' after a certain number of tries though.
Good idea, but it doesn't help with coins that already exist. I will use that trick though. I have created a bunch of accidental duplicates by canceling a new coin request while it was loading, changing something I forgot, and re-submitting.
Hello,
I have no plan to implement this idea. I agree this would be useful for some people when adding series, but I fear it may introduce errors if some other people use it without really double checking the fields that are different. I prefer recommending using some browser features like explained by nthn or copy-pasting.
