1800's Andorra coinage?

Is there any other Andorran coinage other than the crappy euro and the bullion coinage?

Good question. I checked the Krause catalogues from 1601 to 2000 and there's nothing in them except, of course, the non-circulating souvenirs in the 1901─2000 catalogue (and, no doubt, in the 2001─... one as well).

There exists what seems to be an 1873 pattern, though I'm suspicious since the two examples I could find are sold by a Chinese dealer on eBay (via picclick). One would have expected it to be in the Krause 1801-1900, but it isn't.

I'm surprised they never, at any point, struck their own coins after 1600, even knowing that they have been ruled from the outside since the times of Charlemagne. Perhaps there is something before 1600?

For reference here is Andorra in the Numista catalogue.

I was in Andorra in the pre-Euro period and paid everything in French francs. If I remember correctly, most locals were using Spanish currency.

EDIT: Here is what you get in Google Images for "andorra" 1873.

It's a revolutionary Spanish coin, though. I don't know if it would count to Andorra or rather to Spain.

But the obverse legend translates as "Republic of the Valleys of Andorra".

One problem is that the early 1870s don't seem to be very important politically in Andorra, so I'm not sure who struck these patterns (if that's what they are) and why.

SO uh, during that time, Andorra was have increased immigration from Spain and France. Some company (I have no idea who though) made a few patterns for some of the immigrants. These never made into full effect I am pretty sure.

Also. I've seen issues like that one selling for 180$. I don't know if I should get it or not.

Andorra has never minted circulating coins. In Middle Ages they likely used coins from counties of Bearn and Urgell. In Modern period they used French and Spanish coins. They only have minted coins for collectors in recent years.

The coin of 10 centimos of 1873 is a fantasy made in Brussels in the 1870's. The engraver Henri Charles Wurden made a few fantasies in Mening Freres atelier. Surely this is one of his works.
