I was on the way home after seeing a friend who is dyeing. About 2 hours from home. Stop to get gas, coffee, and some cig's. Went to pay and found 24 Canada 1 cent coins, all still red. Asked if I could have them, and he said sure. Went the tray is full just up in the animal help jar. But he usually just throws out the Canadian coins. Here are the years I pick up all red and nice. 1951, 55, 56, 59 (2), 61, 62, 64 (3), 65, 67 (2), 69, 70, 72, 74 (2), 75 (4) and 76 (2).
I said you should be saving these because they are mot made anymore. He said why ?
This is why we still can find silver in our change.
Just me on the rag I just find it hard to believe how dumb people are.
Not all people appreciate coins nor know the value or history like a collector of coins do.
It would seem that we just see things from a different perspective.
Are Americans dumb probably no dumber than other world people who do not collect coins.
You got yourself some real nice coins for that cigarette stop.
Those who believe they can do something and those who believe they can't are both right.

Sadly, most people don't really appreciate history or historical items nowadays. Still, look at the bright side. It's always a nice feeling for us collectors to sometimes get a bunch of coins like this, from people who have no idea whatsoever what they could be worth.
Sorry for me on my rag. This is like the saying. One mans trash is another mans treasure. But I still think most people have no idea about coins here. I still find silver about every month to two months. Usually small coins. And a lot of non-circulating coins. But should be happy got some nice 50's to 70's coins free. I am sure mdj will love the red 1967. But thank you
I have an uncle who passed away recently but worked for the City of Montreal all his life. He would sometimes be assigned to building renovation, some of which buildings were very old. In the 80s or 90s he had to dismantle some sort of old cupboard and, to his surprise, at the back there were lots of empty old cigarette boxes/packs from the 1930s-1950s because there was a space between the cupboard and the wall and people threw them in between. So my uncle collected them carefully, but I never got to see them, because as soon as my aunt saw them, she threw them in the garbage. For her, old and dusty = garbage.
As for coins, it's funny how different people react in their ignorance. Some people keep British penny "smooties" from the 20s and 30s as if they were treasures. Meanwhile, in France, many years ago now, some workers found a treasure inside the walls of a medieval building and tried to use the coins in coffee machines.
Where's the face palm emoji when you need it most?
Do these pennies have any value yet? I find them while CRH and was conflicted on if I should keep them or not. Any predictions if they may have value in the future?
What I collect: US, 3rd Reich Germany, Philippines, Ancients, Vatican City, North Korea.
