Basically, what it says in the title:
Sometimes when we quote on Numista, the stuff we type below it doesn't show up in the reply to a thread, just the quote.
This happened to me yesterday when I got stuck writing in the quote. Everything that I changed while writing in it was gone when I published. Once I clicked inside the quote without typing anything outside it, I couldn't get back outside to type again.
It's the "new" comment window with the auto formatting when you put elements too close together - you can see this often with pictures that are uploaded that one only depicts the miniature picture because the real size link was overwritten by the new picture.
You can often fix this with clicking on the source button and correct the mistake.
On the topic of quoting (pet peeve of mine) why do so many of our members always fullquote again and again their entire discussion, or when they directly post after the post they answer to (even very short sentences where the chance of a next poster is very slim)? /rant

Exactly. When it's happening to me it's always too when I'm editing the quote (mostly deleting the irrelevant texts in the quote because indeed it's very annoying to repeat a whole quote when you only react on a small part of it) and never when I leave the quote unchanged.
But there is a very simple solution (as long as the problem isn't fixed properly). First type 1 character outside the quote box before you start editing within the quote box.
