If I am allowed to ask about non-coin topics:
My 7 year old nephew would like some sort of drone or helicopter or other similar flying toy. He can handle remote controlled cars and such reasonably well, but I don't want something meant for adults that might be too challenging. I would like something reasonably durable and inexpensive. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks!
The smaller less expensive choppers are much easier to master than the bigger ones, drones are harder. Seven seems young but he might pick it right up.
Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!
I bought 1 of those $40 helicopters and couldn't get it to go forward. A common problem with them. I read online you have to get 1 with 4 frequencies or something like that. Size doesn't matter in this case, so look for 1 that is recommended for beginners. The smaller 1s I saw are for indoor only. Get him a cheap 1 and go up from there.
Go online and find a good drone Forum, and you'll get answers to all your questions. That's what I did, so I feel like I'll be able to make a informed decision when I get 1 this summer. Good luck...
If you are buying the ones with cameras/ones that can carry cameras they are not very cheap. Here in Finland they cost usually more than 80€. The ones that do not have cameras are cheaper, the price is from 10-40€ usually. A friend bought a very small one (weighs less than the giant 5 kopek) for only 10€. He almost broke it in the summer but I think it still works. Buy a cheap one, if you're looking after those that can't carry a camera. If you are going to take photographs with it, buy a quality one, because it is not nice to have the phone/camera fall off it. Watch out for drone-free areas. The capital of Finland has a large drone free zone around the giant church and the statue of Alexander II.
I would give the Skyviper drones about a 3.8 star. They handle pretty sensitively, but once you master them, they handle quit well. The only problem with them is instead of falling to the ground when they lose signal, they continue doing what they were told to do last (as in, up and away. Lost one into the forest that way.). They do have good range though, and the camera is good.
