I see no reason why this coin would be forged.
A die that has been used to strike a lot of coins, is sometimes 'recut', so it can be used again.
That is the effect you see on your coin.

Machine doubled. You have to look for seperation of serifs.

If you look at the bottom bar of the E, I think a notch can be seen. This may be a double die after all Red.
