Hi everyone! I'm only 3 days in to the site and to attempting to catalog my World Coins. I'm VERY new to it all! I've had a mitt-full or two of coins from around the world for about 20-some years ago when I had pen pals from around the world. I have finally decided to do something with them.
Personally, I'm not overly interested (yet) about getting into the valuable coins but I'm completely interested in collecting low value coins from different countries. I have about 80 coins at the moment and have them from about a dozen (or more) different countries.
The reason for my post was to introduce myself and say HELLO and THANK YOU for any and all help anyone can offer. I'm LOVING it here, already! Thanks again!
Welcome to Numista. In general people are very friendly and helpful here, although I unfortunately sense some hostility recently. Hopefully this is only temporarily.
Welcome, like you I am new to the forum, about 1 month.
I have nearly finished listing my collection 1800 or so pieces
from 180ish countries and like you am much more interested in
the cheaper end of the spectrum, all World coins 1945 to date for
£1 [$1.5 ][2Euro] or less.
Will list my duplicates in due course but doubt I have much of interest for swaps.
Gordon
Collect what you like and like what you collect.
Remember you are only the custodian of you collection, its only yours for your lifetime.

I might be interested at some point once I start getting into swaps! Thanks so much for the reply!
We hope you do, we like to see new collectors learning new things!
Where are you getting coins? It can be hard, for example my coin shops don’t sell foreign coins.
Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

I had them in a box from about 20+ years ago from when I had a slew of pen pals from other countries. For about a year I asked them to send their equivalent of a penny and I was able to get quite a few that way!

We're getting a lot of newbies lately on the forums, no?
It may be a coincidence, but I started right around this time of year as well (two years ago). Maybe there's something about the season that encourages getting interested in collecting pursuits.
