Just received the 5 Francs coin, which is listed on Numista as Cameroun KM#10, but in my Krause catalogue, it does not list it there.
I found the coin, dating 1958 under Equatorial African States KM#24.
Is my catalogue wrong/out of date or should the coin be listed under Equatorial African States?
Hi !
In my Krause (2017) it is listed as stated in Numista: French Equatorial Africa - Cameroon, as a division of Cameroon, KM10.
Maybe there has been some kind of update ?
It won't be correct to refer to Cameroon (Eng.) or Cameroun (Fr.) as one of Equatorial African States in 1958, since it obtained independence only later, in 1960, and thus was not a state yet in 1958. Cameroon was then French colonial territory and a part of the French Equatorial Africa.
I collect coins and tokens which circulated in Africa from 18th century to 2000. I sell about 7000 illustrated world coins from http://www.avscoins.com.
Citeer: "COINMAN1"So, according to Andrey, and my Krause catalogue, the 1958 coin should not be Cameroon. So still no idea where it should be listed.
Not exactly.
Why don't you want to list it as later Krause Catalog does: French Equatorial Africa - Cameroon ? It's a period in Cameroon's numismatic history.

Before I make my final decision on this coins rightful place, can I just ask one final question.
Were there any other countries included in French Equatorial Africa?

Decision has been made.
As it is on Numista as Cameroon KM#10, I have no choice but to leave it there, but in my own database, it will be recorded as Equatorial Africa States KM#24, as that is what it states in my Krause catalogue.
Solved.
