Penny coin rolls: where can I get them? [opgelost]

Does anyone know any Canadian banks that still allow customers to purchase rolls of pennies? I've yet to find one. They all say that they can accept pennies but can no longer give them out.

If banks can't give me any pennies, does anyone know any other good places to find them?
If you are talking about Canadian pennies than the answer is - no, banks don't have them any longer (actually, for several years already ). I saw a guy on eBay who sold them by boxes (50 rolls each) but the shipment cost was - as usually in Canada - unreasonably high. So , the chances to find them at the face value are pretty slim.

Is there any other place where I could possibly find them at face value? I'm not really interested in ebay or online sales sites purchases, as they're usually made by coin collectors who have likely searched through their rolls. I'm looking to do some coin roll hunting.
The only (and pretty vague - if you ask me) opportunity would be to find someone who still has a big jar full of pennies collected over many years. The rest I afraid is either melted by RCM or already searched through and through by collectors - it's been almost 5 years now since they were taken out of circulation.
Why don't you try US cents instead? Almost as cheap, still available from the banks and have a lot of interesting varieties - what else do you need for the roll hunting?

Up until now, I have been doing nickel hunting, as they are the next most affordable coin. I have just started coin roll hunting (I'm addicted).

U.S. pennies are actually not a bad idea actually, so thanks for the suggestion. I still want some canadian pennies though, as I need some more to complete my collection. I will check id anyone I know has a jar of old pennies.

Thanks for the great suggestion!
I did my share of penny hunting back in 2012-2013 when they were still easily available but I must admit that those about 20 lb of pennies that I managed to sift through didn't produce too many interesting varieties.
But it was fun.

My last chance is my bowling coach's father whom has about 6 or 7 peanut butter jars full of small Cents, mostly Canadian. He's was hoarding them for about 30 years. My last offer was spot price for copper including the jars. Still won't budge.

Up until now, I have been doing nickel hunting...

Just for curiosity sake - what was the oldest nickel you've found while roll hunting? My oldest hunted penny was 1947 ML in quite a miserable condition...

I mean, I've only done 14 rolls or so, a few from Scotiabank and a few from RBC, but the oldest I've found has been a 1961. I also found 1 1962, 2 1965, a 1964, 2 1966 and 6 1968. Those are the only ones worth mentioning.
Finding someone with an old jar full of coins would be great!
Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

Looking for pre 1783 coins
Here in Wisconsin I know the people in my area used Canadian coins as chips for games. I have been very lucky at some home sales. I pick up a jar of Canadian nickels ,pint. for 25 dollars . What had 2 1970's and went down to the late 1930's . And mixed jar at another sale for 10 dollars what had even some silver in it. But they are getting hard to find now. The last one I bought was in a 45 minn half pint milk bottle . Just with Canadian 1 cent coins. That was 15 dollars, but I wanted the milk bottle. The odd thing is iam still finding them in my change. And I have made a big network of people who save anything different for me. I think your best thing to do. Is find some one with a jar just sitting around. If you can. Good luck in your hunting, and you find what you need
edit here is image of one the many jars I have found
It is, what it is, or is it.
I actually just went to a local RBC, and asked for pennies because I had a "school project" (of course it wasn't for school, though it was a project). One teller seemed hesitant to give me any, but another teller, who I think was new, piped up and said that they had $3.50 worth.

Of course, I bought them all, and the finds were rewarding. I think almost all of them were customer wrapped.

FINDS:

2 wheat pennies (1940, 1955 D)
2 1964
2 1962
1957
1953 (special variety)
1960 D american, large date variety
3 1867-1967 commemoratives
Some really nice condition (AUNC) coins from 1973-1987
