On the bottom of the coin on the second picture I see something like a line.
In case of replica, no value.
In the other case, you should know that roman coins were made by the millions, in several places in the roman empire.
So must of the roman coins are not rare or scarce, with values of a couple of $
It is difficult to say if you can not hold the coin in your hands.
The legend looks a little bit strange
Non est totum quod splendet ut aurum
Rijkdom bestaat niet uit het hebben van veel bezittingen, maar in het hebben van weinig behoeften
Citeer: "PetrusAscanus"You could be correct, I am not really a expert...
No one is an expert, we always need a second opinion. That's why we have the forum, so everyone can tell their opinions. Good or wrong, we all have something to learn.
In Ostia Antiqua I bought some 'replica' roman coins.
On the rim there is a line, what makes it clear the are replica
That same line I see on your coin.
I have showed my replica's to an real expert on roman coins.
I have fooled him, he sayed the were rather rare coins. Until I told him to look at the rim....
Indeed we all can learn a lot here!
Non est totum quod splendet ut aurum

This one looks ok....
But beware PetrusAscanus, sometimes they polish the rim to erase the line on it. Then you got a smooth rim, different from a genuine one, but still better than a line. I have a nice sestertius for Trajan i get in a lot but unfortunately it is fake. The line on the rime was erased. I don't really care for i didn't bought the lot for it but it is a quite good fake that could fool some people. Definetely not a tourist copy.
Your expert was probably a bit ashamed, wasn't he ?
