I have recently found this coin which I believe to be a Charles I Shilling but I am not too sure about the monarch or denomination of the coin. I has some detail on it and Carlovs is visible on the obverse but I would like to be sure.

Could be but the portrait on the Obverse is different. The one I own has a portrait of Charles in his later years as he is larger

The key to identification would be the mintmark but since that is at the top of the coin, you might struggle with that.
