Found this from an Australian sale 11 years ago ... https://www.noble.com.au/mobile/lot?id=206492
which mentions an advertising token 'Muto, uniface in copper (30mm)'
plus it shows another token (below) with MutoScope on it. Though it only
shows that token and not the others in that lot.
MutoScope were sold to UK and elsewhere so maybe they had their own tokens, over time.
Of course all that may be a coincidence, and MUTO refers to something else. Like as the sale link is from Australia (which is also where you are from), so maybe M is Melbourne. Or not.
Thank you ZacUK.
I am certain that you are right, given that the ad you referred me to was Australian and referred to a 'Muto uniface in copper 30mm'. Circumstantial evidence is that my grandfather's brother worked on an amusement pier at weekends during the depression. I myself being a 1930s child remember peep show machines in the 1940s and I do recall that in children's pavilion at the Royal Easter Show, the peep shows were 2 for a penny and they gave you 2 tokens. I remember preferring paying a penny in the other pavilion to see more risqué shows like'What the Butler Saw'!
Do you think this token might be of interest to a collector? It is not really of interest to me.
Thanks again
John
