Before and After Zinc

My friend in NY sent me this Belgium 1945 5 Franc and asked if it was worth saving. I cleaned it up and thought it looked pretty neat – still environmental damage is still there. My friend said it looked so great that I should keep it. WOW was I happy. Just thought I would share. Ed

The 1945 coin with Dutch text is relatively rare, with a catalogue value of $35 in VF grade. I would definitely keep it (or cash it and buy a cheaper one from 1941 :°).

Nicely done, by the way. It has become a very attractive coin.
Nicely done! How did you clean it?

This is another one of my cleanings – I bought this coin because I didn't see a dot before the date – after I cleaned it I was happy with the results – but – found a dot before the date.
I enjoy zinc coins and look for errors. I perfected a method for cleaning zinc coins and I have bought many ugly zinc coins and turned them into nice looking zinc coins. I look for details in the ugly coins and bring them out with my cleaning method.

Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

Looking for pre 1783 coins
