New Member - Question related to Mint & Proof Sets [opgelost]

3 berichten
Hello everyone,

New Member here and I have caught the bug of currency collecting. Started with nothing 2 months ago and have been steadily adding coins to my collection. I still have quite a bit to catalog on Numista, and I get so excited every time I sit down and begin. I started to catalog everything in Excel but was referred to you site from another forum, I LOVE this site!!!! Not much that has not been identifiable, and as you can see I have coins from many countries. So, my question: I have nearly a complete US mint (D&P) and proof (S) sets and would like to understand if there is a way to catalog those as "sets" versus individual coins as I have no intention of breaking them down. Is there a way to catalog sets? Specifically those sets that were minted in silver?

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks TopekaGuy
Welcome to the site.

We had a big debate a while back over whether sets should be catalogued in Numista, and the answer seems to be no at the moment.

You'll have to catalogue each coin in the set on their own.
Thanks Cass,

I guess I will not be cataloging any of them as that would be a nightmare. It would be a great add on for those of us who have large collections of mint and proof sets. Additionally would allow other to see and trade. I know I was looking for a missing Denver set last month, would have been nice to see if there were any "extras" out here and swap something for it, versus looking of Ebay or other commercial sites (when you are not comfortable that the seller is honest).

Please let me know if or when this enhancement ever gets to a point of going live.
Thanks
