Map view

I was wondering if there are plans to upgrade the world map view that would allow users to pan & scan or zoom in on specific areas, like countries in Africa, southeast Asia or Europe?

Kind of possible already. Maximizing the map and then in the addressbar change the length to for example 3000. Primitive but it does allow me to get a view with only Europe

I tried it. It seems pretty nice but a bit tedious having to adjust the number to the desired level of zoom.
I was actually thinking something along the lines of one of those "plus" and "minus" buttons one sees on mapquest or bing maps or applications like that to zoom in or zoom out.
