When checking my coins, listed by metals, I realised that I have 2,090 coins listed as 'other'.
I realise that today we have multitudes of variations, but just wondering if at any time in the future, this number may be reduced when other named materials are shown separately.
There are some possibilities on how to check those mistakes, but these are very time consuming and I am not sure if we could make it collaborative. I can only appeal to members to keep their eyes open and if they see a mistake in metal field then they can correct it.
Jarcek,
There is no problems with my listing of coins by metal, but just concerned that 2,090 are listed in 'other', rather than allocated a specific metal.
I realise there are now many different mixes, but hoped that we could do better than 10.
It is not a problem for me as I do not keep a personal record of what my coins are made from, it just seemed a high number, when hopefully, some could have their own place in the listing under new headings.

I completely agree, perhaps the weird alloys and unusual materials (e.g. Porcelain, Baked Clay, Cardboard come to mind) could be left in a ubiquitous "other" category, there are some metals that I was surprised weren't included outside "Other" on the pie chart... Gold in particular seems to be something that should be listed.
Perhaps Billon too, but that might conflict with some low purity silver coins definition-wise.
It's kind of like how I have some coins that are bi-metallic and others that are bimetallic. In that case we should choose one and harmonize the listings since I prefer to have one number and not two...
Citeer: "CassTaylor"Gold in particular seems to be something that should be listed.
it just shows the 10 most common metals in your own collection. So everyone sees a different list. If you want gold to show ... you'll need to invest a bit more :)
That said a separate page with a longer overview of statistics would be fun

No new swaps for the moment, still too many half-ongoing swaps to clean up!

Oh, I didn't know... so if a majority of my collection is gold (not gonna happen for a long time), then it would show?
I'm guessing if one of the 10 most common in my collection is Baked Clay, it wouldn't show....
I should have said most common materials, as I think it would also show porcelain or plastic, if it is common enough (top 10). Therefore it's very important to have uniform names in the material field .... bimetallic and bi-metallic would be counted separately like mentioned by cncote10.
Being able to see a full overview of all materials could help to find those inconsistencies.
