Trying to obtain all 26 of these coins, but as yet, I have only got 7, and that has been one almighty struggle.
I have obtained 4 from my local Post Office, and 3 were very kindly sent to me by a Numista member.
I have people in around 7 shops looking out for them, but nothing has come up for over 4 weeks.
I have the following letters, but no swaps, so may have to discuss swapping method with each individual offer.
G, L, P, T, U, V & W
PM me if you have anything to offer and we can discuss swap/sell.
Good luck getting B, the press apparently stirred up that this would be the rarest one of all of them (even though they all have the same mintage) I was lucky to get one on my trip to the UK at a post office in Bridgend. But there aren't even any B's in the Royal Mint!
If you ever get any spare ones, then let me know, no matter which letter.
I have seen the result of the madness on eBay with the B coin. Totally crazy. Would not buy at some of those hyperinflated prices.
Please keep me in mind.
I'm not in the UK, but if I was I would be going down to the bank for 500 pounds in 10c coins......sort through them and maybe find a few that you are looking for personally, or to on-sell now or later.
Bas,
You would probably end up with none. My local Post Office had a few some weeks ago, and they got me 3, then none for some time, then 1 more. 3 were sent to me by a collector in the UK, and since then, none.
No idea where they all are, but not with me.

Latest up-date on my 10 pence alphabet collection.
I now have 16 of them so 10 more to get.
These are the required letters:- A,B,C,D,F,M,O,R,S & X
I have the following coins to swap on a 1 for 1 basis
L,P,T (x2),U & W
Any help gratefully received, but already know these are becoming difficult to obtain anywhere
It seems that certain parts of the country do not appear on the Royal Mint map. Some sellers on eBay have dozens, whilst others have none.
ZacUK, my sympathies are with you.
If you want the collection i would suggest just buying full set from mint, i think its only place you will get them. Its selling for £52. I've not found any in circulation yet.
I have found one in circulation so far and that is the one i sent to you. I do ask occasionally when i am in the post office and banks and they have not seen any either. If you go on ebay however there are sellers selling each letter and they have 100s of each!
I just refuse to spend £3-£4 on a 10p coin and what is the fun in buying them!!
I quite agree. I stated in an earlier forum message that I would not buy any at these hyper inflated prices and that is still my position.
I have been very lucky to have some very kind collectors send me some, and also, some very nice people in my local Post Office who look out for them, not only for me, but other collectors as well.
Got my first Jeremy Fisher 50 pence coin from them last week.

Well i guess i was one of the suckers who bought the whole set :))
I've thought about asking at the post office, don't they get annoyed by requests like that? Also thought about going to the bank and asking for a float of loads of 10ps and 50ps and seeing if i get any.

I do admit buying the whole set has crossed my mind as i am sure as years go by the value is always going to go up!
I am sure they do get fed up of requests but i am in there quite a lot so they always seem to be friendly towards me. I wouldn't bother trying the bank for 10ps but 50ps i would. I work in department store and i am always swapping 50ps out of the bags we get come in from the bank!
No harm in trying, if you get nothing good just go swap it straight back
At my local post office, there are about 8 people who collect various coins,so they spread those that come in, so each of us get something. My first 6 alphabet coins came through them. They have never complained and I always buy them a large box of chocolates at Christmas.
I get similar service from a couple of ladies in other shopping outlets. In one shop, the ladies grandson is a small collector, and asked me if I could obtain a Kew Gardens 50 pence coin. This I did and even got a little discount for her. She collects a few herself, but the rest I get.
I send all of my coins through this post office, so they know me very well. If they have putby something for me, then I always have it, even if I already have some.
I have tried a few banks, but if you are not a customer of that bank, they just fob you off saying they have not seen any. Do not bother with the banks now.
There is nothing wrong in buying a complete set, it was just that is was £50+ for £2.60 of coins.
I have seen the complete set which a collector from Australia bought whilst over here. It was very very nice, but I like the hunt.
I've just got my first one after they have been in circulation for 4 months.
I won't buy them, I'll just keep getting bags from the bank & sorting through.
I got a 2002 £2.00 Commonwealth Games with the English Flag about 4 weeks ago and the next week I got my final want from the 2011 50p Olympic issue (Hockey) , so I think that even with Ebay & Shpock around and people asking silly prices for them, I'll still be able to get the full set from the bank eventually.
I have been searching since they were issued and have 3 traders who deal mainly in cash looking for me and only have managed to get "A". You can buy them all from some specialist post offices at £4 each UNC but am loathe to buy them for that.
Gordon
Collect what you like and like what you collect.
Remember you are only the custodian of you collection, its only yours for your lifetime.
I got 8 bags (£40.00) from my bank this morning and found another, 2 down only 24 to go.
At this rate I may have some to swap by the end of the year...
An 'M'. How did you get one of those before me. That is not in the rules.
Congratulations on getting any, so hopefully, more will follow soon.
I am still hunting my last 10, but nothing forthcoming from anywhere.
As they are seemingly scarce within the UK, it is very unlikely that they will ever appear in New Zealand, or indeed, most anywhere else.
Unless, like Oklahoman, you cannot wait or resist temptation, you just buy the whole set and save yourself a great deal of frustration, but I still cannot bring myself to do it.
Best of luck in getting the whole set in New Zealand.

I've noticed that they are £2 to buy on Ebay, and usually an additional £1 for storage, and that's usually for them in circulated condition. Yet you can buy the whole set, uncirculated and early strikes for £2 each from the mint. That was my justification for buying the full set. If i get any in circulation, i can just sell for £2 and get some of my money back.
I would totally agree with your reasoning behind buying the whole set in one go.
If you were to buy the set from eBay, it would cost you more than buying it direct from the Royal Mint.
I still will not buy them at these inflated prices.
I have a few to swap and that is how I want to obtain the missing ones.
Monday I got £100 of 10p's from a bank, not a single "Alphabet" coin in there. Not a total disaster, I got a 10p from Jersey, Guernsey & Gibraltar, a 1 Kr. from Sweden & 5 US Quarters. Wednesday I got £50 from a different bank, still no "Alphabet's" but 1 from Guernsey, 1 from IOM & a 2 Kuna from Croatia.
Merv,
Perhaps you might need to buy £1,000 worth.
Try banks and post office again this morning, but no one has seen any for almost 2 months. Still need 10

I did end up buying the entire set (I think it ended up ~2pounds a piece including postage) because in my experience, swapping with uk collectors works out often times just as if not more expensive than just buying from the mint/dealers. Moreover, lately, commemoratives are not as widespread as they used to be, and all the more so with the 10p series; chances were/are extremely high that atleast one or two of them will be nearly unattainable through circulation for the average brit collector let alone lil ol' me sitting on the other side of the atlantic (and nothing pisses me off more than being unable to complete a series lol)
Another £50 of 10p's from a different bank.
No alphabet but got a little bonus out of one of the bags, somebody must have thought to get rid of a piece of junk & make himself 10p in the process.
I wouldn't mind a wheelbarrow full at 10p. each
Merv
A 1933 shilling. Perhaps you should go back to the bank and request twelve 1933 pennies. Now that would be hitting the jackpot.
Still no change in my 10p collection. 10 required.
My local post office thinks they are being withheld until next year, but no reason for it.
Well, it finally happened. My local Post Office had a few today, but have to be spread around, so I was allowed to choose one coin, from the ten they had.
They only had one I needed, so it is now mine. M-Mackintosh. They did have 4 Y's

Only 9 to go.
Hey guys, I too entered in this competition! My daughter has recently been in London (from Italy) and she found
a 10p of "B = James Bond 007" It's fantastic!
Now it has become an obsession not only for me, but also for many other people. I have unleashed some friends in search of "Alphabet's 10p"..........25 to go.
I do not have a B.
I wish you the best of luck with the rest. If you look back through this forum, you will find a list of those I need and those I have for swap. If you get any doubles of those I need, then please contact me.
Hi COINMAN1
If you only have the 6 need (as listed) does that mean the you have the "I" for ice cream and forgot to tell everybody that it is in circulation. https://en.numista.com/forum/topic66005.html
Mike,
Merry Christmas to you, Yvonne and family.
That's a strange name for it. How did it come about?
Probably have an extra cup of tea when I get the last one. Even have a biscuit.
Still see that Australia are issuing lots of commemorative coins. It will keep us in swaps for while.
I assume your collection is still growing, as mine is, but slowly. Just adding 21 more now that arrived yesterday.
Geoff
Reading my forum page, it seems quite a few bought the whole set. Obviously, you are never likely to see any in Australia, so would never finish the set, so fully understood reasoning behind decision.
Been talking to customer services at the Royal Mint over the last couple of days, with reference to minage figures of the Alphabet coins.
As of today, each coin has a mintage figure of 200,000.
That makes each coin rarer than the Kew Gardens 50pence coin
Further issues may be made when there is a need for them.
5 to go now.
Received A-Angel of the North this morning.
The hunt continues for C, D, F, O & S
Talking to a couple of people I know, who are also collecting them and one needs two, and the other needs five.
None of us have swaps for each others missing coins
Zac,
My commiserations go to you.
As you have probably already read in this forum, I have been very lucky to have a number of people searching for them for me, have also received a few for free, and swapped a few as well.
With the present mintage figures as they stand, I am surprised to have as many from circulation as I have, so I should feel very happy with this, and I can assure you that I am.
Happy New Year, and pleasant coin hunting in 2019
Geoff
Just a little update.
I hav been talking to another local collector of the Alphabet coins, and she still needs 4 coins, just like me, but a slightly different combination. She needs C, D, F & H
Any help from both of us would be gratefully received.
She also needed 'W', but I have that, so have reserved it for her.
Good news or bad news depending on how you look at it! It seems the 2019 dates series is now available for sale on the Royal mint website for £62. The coins will also be issued into circulation in the same way as the 2018 dates series
I hear that only 2.1million Alphabet 2019 coins will be put into circulation. Just to clarify, that is 2.1M in total and not per Alphabet. Best of luck finding those!
Perhaps I might get one of the 2019, but definitely not holding my breath. Went to every shop who is helping me and my friend collect the 2018 series yesterday, but no one has seen any.

well... 2M for a population of 60M roughly equates to a 1 in 30 chance to get one. Of course, not everyone is looking for these coins, so your odds are somewhat better :)
My odds of a 2019 coin are worse than finishing my 2018 set. I need four coins from 2018, but not found any for weeks now, so my hopes of completion is diminishing.
I have requested help from members of the Numista website, but they do not seem to have any either.
I was wondering if i'd have buyer's remorse when i bought the 2018 set from the mint, but given that in general putting a set together through circulation for locals seems near impossible, let alone people outside the UK, I feel I made a good bet
Yes, anyone who lives outside of the UK made a good choice in buying the complete set. I just set myself a challenge, to see if I could actually complete it.
Having viewed the various comments on this forum subject, I seem to have done better than most getting 22 of them, plus a few extras for swaps.
Yesterday, I received an email from Change Checker where the coins are listed with a rarity index number, and three of the coins I need are in the bottom 8.
Strangely, 'S' in bottom, and I do not have it.
I would like to point out the difficulties to find these coins out of U.K.
In my particular case, I am in Italy, after having found the first Alphabet 10p (B=Bond) in November 2018, I have had the second coin (Z=Zebra cross) today, 5th of March, 2019 . At this rate I will complete the Series about in the Year........2025!
But I feel it more exciting than buying the UNC coinset....
We are having massive difficulties getting these coins in the UK, as you have stated, so hope your second coin was sent from the UK.
I am hoping to swap 'C' for 'Y', but time will tell
Swapping 'O' for 'Y', so, only two to go. F & S
I still have some to swap on a one for one basis. I have J, P, T and U
Once mine is complete, I am then going to help my friend complete hers.
I was given both 'F' & 'S' today, by my daughter, whose colleagues at the company she works for in London, have been hunting them down.
Will add a photograph tomorrow of my completed set.

Now trying to help two local collectors finalize their alphabet collection.
One needs 'C ' & 'F', whilst the other needs 'D' & 'H'.
Any help would be gratefully received.
