Extremely worn coin

My grandfather use to collect coins, and I am looking through his coins that were given to me, and I found a coin that has no image what so ever. I understand that it is basically impossible to identify, but I was wondering how the coin could have been worn so severely.
Welcome to Numista!

It could be any number of things; from deliberate wearing to natural circulation/rubbing around sort of wear.
Thanks for the help, is there a specific material that commonly wears this severely?
Doesn't look like a coin.
Any ideas what it is?
Hi,

Better pics would help but don't expect too much from us (and from the "coin"), the condition is really bad. Actually, at first sight, it could be literally anything circular.
It's not really really old since it's well circular, so 1700's or after I'd say, if it happens to be a coin.
Probably made of copper, as that wears quickly ...

such as that coin I have, so people knew what the size was and
so knew what the (worn away lettering) face value was - so despite
the wear it still circulated for many years. Given the diameter (31mm)
and there is Queen Victoria on the other side, I know it is a UK 1 Penny.
