Hello,
I have also had this coin on my desk for a few years and have done some extensive searching. So far I cannot positively identify it. I'm really hoping that someone will be able to help with a positive identification.
It appears to be Billon, 16.3 mm max, 0.6 g
The obverse shows what I believe is the Eagle of Aachen, free city with the number “6” at about 8:00.
The reverse has a crowned double shield with an eagle on one side and the numbers “84” below. I’m not sure if the “84” is a date or denomination (1/84th Thaler?)
Any help would be appreciated
Thank you

With a little more research and your direction, I believe that you are correct. I did find a similar Silesia-Liegnitz-Brieg 3 pfennig. Krause only shows a one year type (1673).
There is probably the last two numbers of the date, I seem to see a 3 on the lower left of the eagle, to the right I'm not sure.

I saw the "3", but I thought that's the "3" for "3 pfennig" and the date should be at the bottom. But the condition of the coin at the bottom doesn't reveal a date.

Coins of this era usually do not have two denominations on them. The 84 on the reverse means 1/84th thaler, which equals 3 pfennig or a dreier.
The "three" on the obverse (which also looks like a 6) is part of the date. Look at the same position on the other side of the eagle, and it looks like the base of a 2.
The coin is similar to Silesia-Liegnitz-Brieg Saurma 68, but the style does not look "right".
The "3" Looks like a "6" that is partially disfigured from being to close to the edge. I did a little more Macro photography and what looked like to me to be part of the eagle designed turned out to be what looks like a very faint "1Z" on the lower right.
Going by the catalog references given, I'm going to have to say that it is KM#68 161Z.
I am using The Krause 1600-1700 4th edition (2008) which does not show this in Silesia or Silesia-Liegnitz-Brieg.
The addition that I am showing shows Silesia-Liegnitz-Brieg going back only to 1673.
And Silesia proper has the wrong design and ruler. And nothing in my catalog shows "84 below".
It appears that I've been tripped up by a catalog glitch.
I cannot thank you enough for your help, it is very much appreciated.
great find 1612 seems to be the date.
If you whish I can ask on a German Forum which I think is quite knowledgable for such coins.

Citeer: "halfdisme"For the Saurma listing:

Keep in mind that Saurma is a catalog of one man's collection. Having different dates of his types is not unusual.
That does look correct. And a much better example.

The photo of the catalog that "Essor Prof " posted seems to nail it on the head. Using that, I went to The NGC website and they have a current Krause listing available. For some reason, it was omitted from the edition of the Krause that I am using.
