I couldnt find the information that its totally out of any worth so my question is, could I bring them to a taiwanese bank (which one?) and exchange them, could I still use them in any Payment (for example in a wending machine) ?
However you can always sell it to some collectors.
Be kind to people. Sharing is Caring. Collect what you like and not by the Crowd.
To seek for perfection, it is too painful and there is a very high price to pay. To seek for something comfortable is more easy. To seek for nothing is even more easy.
If a coin is demonetized it doesn't mean automatically that it's worth zero. German marks and old UK round pounds are demonetized (and can't be spend in shops) but still hold their monetary value.
In this case I didn't get my way to Taiwanese central bank's website (it was down), but maybe you could ask this via email to be sure?
If these coins were still worth their nominal value they would be approx. €0.014 for each 5 Jiao coin. How many could you possibly have to make it a worthwile case to write the Central Bank of the Republic of China an email about your holdings?
They have some value for collectors.
Or their metal content, which for brass is roughly 2,40 euro/kg, this coins are 3,4gram each so you
need about 290 pieces for a kilo....
These coins have a face value of half a new Taiwan dollar but unfortunately they are not worth anything if you tried to exchange them in a bank in since the change of the Jiao to the new Taiwan dollar. Also since they have such a low face value ($0.016 usd) they aren’t worth that much to a collector. I have a bunch of these that my dad gave me when he was still using them as money in Taiwan.
