Is this Spanish coin real? [opgelost]

My friend in Canada got a Spanish coin, and he has a few doubts on the authenticity of the coin. We’d like a little help with a concrete ID, and also the authenticity.

The extremely crude letters (beyond retrograde!) indicate it's probably a fake- for this type probably a Normatensyl token, produced in the mid-20th century as replicas of coins throughout history:
