1936 China Republic 25 Years (Jin) 10 Mei Coper Coin. Real or Fake?

7 berichten
I have asked once before but lost all the information, so I'll ask again. This coin, how do I know if it's real or fake? All information I could find on the internet has now been deleted and it's not listed in the Numista. If it's real how can I add it with no information, if it's fake, well no big deal.

Thanks all.

I know, but the coin from the web site isn't there any more and can't find any other information on it.

Hey David,

I can confirm it's a 100% fantasy coin. By 1936 Chinese coinage had been largely unified under a central issuing authority controlled by the Kuomintang, and the taking of China off the gold standard the year before had decreased any incentive by provincial warlords to mint their own coinage- so that year the only coins issued by the Republic were a uniform set of denominations from 1/2 fen to 1/2 yuan; and this coin is not one of those.
Ah, the enigmatic Chinese pattern coins. They DO exist, but I'd highly suspect this is a common forgery. Looking around the web, this exact design pops up multiple times, whilst the others almost never appear at auction, or haven't over the last 2 decades at least. The mintages were likely single or very low double figures for them.

You'd need to send it to a grading company to be sure, as they will be some of the only people who have handled the real ones, but I'd say it's 99.9% a poor fake.

Look towards the bottom at PN-151 to 153.
Replica.

authentic......

Ok thanks all, guess I'll use it for target practice. Don't save these things.
