Hello dear mates.

My girldfriend gave me this coin yesterday and i found several things that called my attention.

First of all, the date, "several" extra material points isnt it?

And after that i found again different kinds of "extra material":

- Between the heads/hair of Grand Duke Henri and King Albert ( third pic, Red)
- Top hair of Gran Duke Henri (Yellow)
- (In hads is perfectly watchable a full line) Mid hair of Gran Duke Henri (White)

I AM NOT asking if due to all I said, my coin is worth 500€, I just want to learn.

I want to know if all these extra material are common or not, as far as i googled it, i didn't find info but at the same time my girlfriend has at least another coin with the same extra material between the portaits; also I want to know if these can give this coin the status of error coin.

Hoping to get some advices.

Regards.

With the awful way the two portraits meet together, I'm more likely to believe it's a counterfeit than an error coin.

Didn't think in that posibility because despite my coin has some important worn, I think all is where and how It should be(?)

Related to your idea Cerulean, I tryed meassurements and some securty aspects, just in case:

- Diameter: almost 26mm (I am using a plastic sclae and it should be 25.75mmm). So we can say its okey.

- Rim: ribbed with six times the sequence "2 * * " witht that 2 alternately upright and inverted; only I should point that one of the * is very weak, almost not visible and its ribbed (it shouldn't be). I think that despite of this last info, we can say it's okey(?).

- Weight: I DONT HAVE A SCALE RIGHT NOW TO FIND OUT THIS 8~. In hands seems the same, but I know, hands are not a good scale :O

- Medal alignement orientation. So okey.

Will try to ask my girlfriend for his example, in case it can be usefull.

Hi,
(Belgian collector here)
This is probably a genuine error coin. However, the belgian mint was of quite poor quality compared to others. Such errors are not rare and does not add any substantial value to the coin.

Hi Choucas, thank you for your fast answer.

May I ask, Is the quality of the mint still bad or did it improve?

In case it's better now and just to know, till wich year it's posible to consider the mint had bad quality?

Thank you again!

Our mint closed last year, since 2019 our coins are minted in the Netherlands. Though I don't check for that kind of errors to be able to say if the coins are of better quality since.

Thank you mates, all the info was really appreciated. ?
