Hi, I have a Somalia 50 New Shillings 1991 banknote, Pick number P-R2a.3 Regional Mogadishu North forces, only mine has XL for serial number which is not listed. It said it's "Unauthorized Import by businessmen" I've tried to look it up can't find it. What does that mean? Somebody brought in a bunch of bad or fake money?
Most likely it's an unreported serial prefix. I have almost a dozen notes with unreported prefixes, plate letters (India) , signatures (South America), and dates. Send a scan to banknote.ws

The X prefizes are for notes which are unauthorized import by businessmen. And yes, the notes are not issued by the Central Bank of Somalia.
