Hi all,

I got some ancient roman coins and ask for some help identifying them. I already did some ground work and got it narrowed down.

3.) Follis AD 321-324 Licinius I minted in Heraclea (SMHB)

Must be close to the one in the following link but the weight of my coin is off. Any ideas?

I won't double check the obverse lettering on the coins and trust the emperors are right in which case:

1) FEL TEMP REPARATIO reverses are very common and there were multiple mints which struck them all around the Empire from Alexandria to Lyons. The mint mark should be on the reverse at around 6 o'clock but as far as I can tell from the images it's unreadable. If you can read the mintmark you can try and find your coin here: http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/ric/constantius_II/t.html In general I suggest using WildWinds for identifying ancients.

2) In my opinion this is also a FEL TEMP REPARATIO reverse but it could just be my eyes playing tricks on me. In my opinion the reverse is too worn to correctly identify the coin.

3) As far as I can tell you are correct.

4) Licinius I, AE follis, Cyzicus. IMP C VAL LICIN LICINIVS PF AVG, Laureate head right / IOVI CONS-ERVATORI, Jupiter standing left, chlamys over left shoulder, holding Victory and sceptre; eagle at foot left. Δ in right field. Mintmark SMK. RIC VII Cyzicus 4; Sear 15218. Don't worry about the coin's weight, these were hand struck not machine made and always vary in size and weight. You can find yours here: http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/ric/licinius_I/t.html under Cyzicus RIC VII 4, Δ
