Wow, cro321, I am impressed. I was afraid too little remained to identify it, but you recognized it very quickly.
It is so neat to know this is that old and I am holding it in my hand....
Can you tell me which line is the correct one to add it to my collection or is there an online resource I can use to figure it out?
Thank you!!!!!

The mint mark is in the middle of the double cross on the obverse. I can't read it on your coin, try checking it under good light and a magnifying glass and then match the letters to the mint marks on the numista page. If the mint mark is too far gone and cannot be read just put it under "Unreadable mintmark".

I tried identifying the letters from the images on this site, but it did not work.

The left one looks like a straight piece with two legs and each line has a thicker end. The one on the right looks like an O or a B with a hat.

Thanks cro321,
I can't see anything recognizable so I will just use "unreadable mintmark" like you suggested. I'm just thrilled to be touching history....
Thank you for your help!
