There are several Nationalist and Japanese Puppet categories, but no good category for Pre-PRC communist notes.

They weren't totally centralized, so it wouldn't be right to lump them together under a 'government,' but under 'pre-1949' would cover a multitude of sins.

There are hundreds of awesome local communist notes that are not able to be classified correctly
like this note is AWESOME, but doesn't fit in any current category

Hello,

The Chinese Republic needs a lot of work. However, a new currency is not really a solution... they used many different currencies: Mexican Dollars, Taels, Yens, Copper units, etc.

To fix this section, we need hundreds of new issuers, issuing banks, authorities, and currencies. Pick is not the most comprehensive reference for this period, so I will try to find something else, but any help would be most welcome!

I agree, it is a bit of a mess. Most of my collection is in Chinese banknotes and ricenotes, and I've put a lot of new ones in the system.

I also agree that pick number isn't really good--because there are too many outside of what is covered. I have a 10 cent note that is outside of pick.

What do you think would be best? I have plenty of time to help, I'm recently disabled and trying to fill my days.
The Republic of China definitely seems like a dumping ground (for both banknotes and coins).

I have some pending requests to create separate issuers for the Chinese provinces and the Chinese communists (originally for coins, but I recently expanded both to accomodate the many new issuers brought through banknotes). Once those are complete, there should be more order in this section. 0:)

Hello,
Just marking this as resolved, as the Republic of China has been around for a while now

This thread was not about the Republic of China--it was about Soviet China, which needs around 30 new issuers to accomodate all coins and banknotes.

But I did make a thread about this in the referee forum, posted here (pending since May 2020):

There is still not a good place to list these things. I was keeping them under the generic "Chinese provinces" issuer, but with that not being selectable, these 30 issuers are very much needed (this one lost its issuer, for example, and is now hidden in a random province)...
