I can't decide if the alphabet is Ethiopian, Aramaic, or other...
Doesn't look like anything Ethiopian I've ever seen in my life.

Here is my guess: Arabic. The legend might be: لا اله الا الله وحده محمد رسول الله



I'm pretty sure the word in bold, "Muhammad", is what you see between 8:00─10:00.

I am aware that this seems to be conflicting with the imagery. Could it be an Islamic imitation of an early Christian coinage, as we find for example in the process of the Ottoman conquest of the Byzantine Empire?
