Citeer: "bbybugs"I'm sorry to say that both are imitations.
I have several China cash coins and can do a decent job of determining the era and mint mark but I don't have any idea how to separate imitations from the real thing. Any tips on how to determine good from bad cash coins? Thanks
the characters on your coins are thick and some are fanciful like the Boo in particular
there is documentation in numista here
we must observe the different characters with examples known to be true the reference book is the Hartill cast chinese coins

Examine coins in detail, comparing all the details between coins. It helps to use a comprehensive catalog: If you look at Krause and see good Chinese coins vary quite a bid and that bad coins are just variations you don't know about. If you look at Hartill you will get a better understanding of what good cash coins are.
And just look at thousands of good cash coins.
(I'm better than I was, but not as good as I should be.)
